The way I performed this, in "chest" voice for the top notes, is the way John Mayer asked one of the Followills (WXRV/WBOS artists Kings of Leon) to do it, and had me demonstrate for Followill on the phone--but it didn't come out that way on their recording. I like the grit in the rest of his voice better, though. I guess I have a couple more high chest notes than the Followills, and a couple fewer than Sheryl Crow--and a lot fewer than Steve Winwood.
