This is a co-write, not a cover, set up by John Mayer, supposedly to eventually help me. I'd like to get paid now.
The main story thread was devised by Winwood.
But part of this is part of my story.
My present neighborhood's not quite as bad as the one in the song, but I used to live in places like that. Nobody's been shot around where I live for a long time (but I'll check the news later, just in case.) I'm still having a tough time out here. Winwood seems to understand my situation and is trying to help me, but I'm still not getting paid for my writing. I have to say, though, that I'm honored and tickled pink that Clapton put a track on Winwood's version of this, even though he may not know exactly who I am.
